Read what is inside the total
The final amount can contain more than the menu items. A clear record helps you compare options before ordering and understand the confirmation afterward.
Begin with the actual basket
Check item quantities, sizes, selected extras, and substitutions before looking at the grand total. The same item name can produce a different price when the options change.
If you compare ordering channels, use the same restaurant location and equivalent items. Menu prices and offers can vary between a restaurant’s own channel and a delivery service. A useful comparison begins with the same meal.
Read each line separately
| Part of the total | What to review |
|---|---|
| Items | Quantity, selected size, paid extras, and any substitutions. |
| Taxes | The amount displayed for this order, including whether it is still an estimate. |
| Delivery and service charges | Each charge shown and any conditions attached to it. |
| Other charges | Any additional amount disclosed for your basket or location. |
| Tip | The amount you choose, separately from platform fees. |
| Promotions | Eligibility, minimum spend, excluded items, and the actual adjustment. |
Fee structures depend on the platform and order. This guide does not quote universal rates, promise discounts, or calculate a tax amount. The current checkout breakdown is the place to confirm what applies.
Read an offer together with its conditions
A delivery promotion may not remove every other charge. A membership benefit may have conditions or an ongoing subscription cost. Read the terms shown for the offer rather than treating a short headline as the full explanation.
Compare the resulting final amount, and avoid counting the same discount twice in your own notes. General platform explanations can help identify the types of charges, but they do not replace the live basket.
Keep the version you actually confirmed
Save the confirmation that records the final item choices and charge details. A menu screenshot may show an earlier price or a different selection. The confirmed order is a better reference if you have a question later.
Where the service provides order history, open the relevant order directly for support. Use the contact channel supplied by that business instead of an unexpected message asking you to follow a new payment link.
Describe a problem clearly
If an item is missing, a charge is unclear, or the order does not arrive, identify the order and the specific issue through the original channel. Keep any relevant response along with the receipt.
Support, refunds, and adjustments follow the restaurant’s or service’s own terms. This publication cannot access transactions or promise an outcome. See the primary references for the general guidance used in this article.
